The Weeknd

The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, is a Canadian singer-songwriter and record producer born in Scarborough, Ontario. He spent most of his childhood living with his mother and grandmother due to his parents separating at a very early age.

He gained recognition for himself by releasing mixtapes online before signing with Republic Records. In 2011, House of Balloons came out followed by Thursday and Echoes of Silence. His debut studio album Kiss Land was released two years later.

Beauty Behind the Madness earned double-platinum certification in 2015, bringing numerous awards along its way, including several Junos and a Billboard Music Award. Two Grammy Awards were given to him for Starboy in 2016. Having sold more than 75 million records globally, The Weeknd has become one of the top selling artists Canada has produced so far.

The Weeknd will do nothing by half measures as he has a Sun in Aquarius, a Moon in Scorpio, and an Ascendant in Cancer.
