When a high school teacher asked Pratt, the son of a supermarket cashier and blue-collar laborer what he wanted to do with his life, Pratt replied, "I don't know, but I know I'll be famous and I know I'll make a sh*t ton of money.” Attaining this aspiration, however, seemed unlikely when he dropped out of Community College, and ended up homeless on the beaches of Maui, Hawaii, taking jobs to make beer and gas money. After working as a discount ticket salesman and daytime stripper, Pratt got discovered as a server at the age of 19 by actress and director Rae Dawn Chong who cast him in her directorial debut. From there, Pratt leveraged small roles in film and TV into a high-grossing action and superhero movie career.
